"The highest pinnacle of all gentleman sporting activities is shooting. …One of the gentleman’s most treasured possessions is his game book, in which he keeps a meticulous tally of everything he shoots and catches. This habit was so ingrained with one gentleman that when he decided to take his own life he was careful first to enter himself in the game book under ‘various’ before pressing the trigger."

How to be a Gentleman"

"An activity which should be be approached with much greater caution than any of the above is shooting. It is not enough to got to the finest gunmakers, dress in the most correct clothes and equip onseself with all the impedimenta from dog whistles and shooting sticks. It also necessary to know what one is shooting at. There are quite a few objects which is not done to shoot. These, in order of importance, are one's host, one's host's dog, one's fellow guests' dogs and one's fellow guests."

So trocken wie sarkastisch ging das Thema Flintenschießen in einen bekannten britischen Film ein: Such good sport, kann man da nur sagen. Sehenswert ist auch diese britische Werbung
